The filling of the teeth is a restorative dental procedure that is aimed at “repairing” or better reconstructing the missing parts of the tooth that was previously treated.
Normally we proceed with the dental filling after a relative dental caries removal operation, due to a dental fracture (the so-called broken tooth) or because previously the dentist himself had to make a hole to reach the nerve to make a root canal treatment.
The practice of filling the teeth by itself does not hurt but in performing the operation it is necessary to use the drill to remove the carious or damaged parts of the tooth in order to proceed subsequently to the filling and restoration of the original shape of the tooth and in these cases it is better to perform a local anesthetic to avoid the patient feeling pain.
In the past, filling materials potentially harmful to health have been used, including mercury and for which we suggest replacing the amalgam with those of the new generation of lithium disilicate.
Modern materials as well as being metal free (without metals) have, among other features, higher aesthetic quality and a greater ability to “merge” with the original tooth.
The tooth filling cost in Delhi varies a lot from dentist to dentist, and it is difficult to understand on the internet also because the obturation is one of the phases of a wider therapy that can also be very variable from case to case.
Filling procedure:
- To determine the depth of the lesion is a radiography of the teeth.
- The procedure itself of filling begins with local anesthesia. Antibacterial drugs can be used to prevent infection.
- The cavity of the tooth is cleaned and filled with filling.
- A tooth can be filled with various materials. Relying on the location of the affected tooth, the cost of materials and insurance, the patient can choose one of the following materials:
- Installing golden fillings. This is a very strong and durable material that can last for at least 10-15 years. The cost of establishing gold fillings is more expensive than installing other types of fillings. The procedure for installing such a seal requires more than one visit to the dentist. Galvanic shock is a very rare but serious complication that can cause a sharp pain in a tooth.
- Install a silver seal or amalgam. This material is also very strong and durable (from 10 to 15 years). The dental filling cost of this type is less than other types of fillings. The disadvantages of such fillings are the unnatural color of the tooth and discoloration of healthy teeth. To establish a silver filling, healthy parts of the tooth are removed, and cracks may appear due to its structure. Also, some may be allergic to mercury, which contains a silver filling.
- Installation of seals using composites. The color of the composite corresponds to the natural color of the teeth. Compared to gold and amalgam fillers, composites are not as durable.
- Composite materials such as ceramics and glass ionomer can also be used.
- Porcelain fillings are produced in laboratories and then attached to a tooth.
